Several months ago I did a book giveaway on one of the various book sites for Into the Realm of Time. I volunteered to give books to twelve people who applied for the giveaway. The book site chose the readers who were to receive copies of the book. The costs for providing the books and mailing them to the winners were to be borne by me. I signed and personally sent the books to the twelve winners.
Looking back – the giveaway had positive and negative aspects. The positive: thousands of people applied to receive a free copy of Into the Realm of Time, so the book site was viewed by a lot of people. The negative was not a great jump in sales resulted from the giveaway. The total costs for the book and postage were approximately $300 (two of the books were mailed to England).
Would I do a giveaway again – especially considering I am publishing a sequel to Into the Realm of Time in a little over one year? The answer is probably not. However, other authors may have different experiences and have done or will do additional book giveaways. I would like to hear about anyone else's experience and opinion.
Thanks for reading! More soon!
